The Proposal

Picture
Michael and I had been talking about marriage for quite some time, but I didn't really think he would propose until we were both graduated from college. Michael had always said that we would never get engaged on a day that I expected it, therefore I figured birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, etc. were all out of the question.  So, when Michael took me out to dinner on New Years Eve in 2008 I didn't expect anything but a regular dinner.  After our dinner, Michael and I went back to his house that he was sharing with 3 other roommates during their last semester of college.  When we arrived at their house no one was home, which was a bit "shady" to me as we were planning on meeting up with a bunch of our friends.  When we went to put our coats in his room, he opened the door first and I heard our song "Love of my Life" by Jim Brickman and Michael W. Smith playing in the background.  When I walked in to the room I saw rose petals spread all over the room and candles that were organized to spell out "I <3 You" with the ring box in the middle of it all. When I finally realized what was going on I turned to face Michael and he was down on one knee (I don't remember what he said, I was too in shock!) After that I said YES! and we've been planning our wedding ever since!
